About the Unit/ Centre

The center is focusing on advanced water resource management and water-use efficiency in agriculture through a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach. It focuses on conducting applied research on water-saving technologies, integrating agronomy, soil science, Agricultural engineering, and emerging digital tools to develop practical and scalable solutions for farmers.

A key mandate of the institution is to validate and demonstrate innovative water-saving practices through on farm and off farm. Through demonstrations helps to facilitate the adoption of technologies viz., micro-irrigation, precision water management, and climate-resilient farming practices.

In addition to research and field validation, the institution plays a pivotal role in capacity building and knowledge dissemination. It regularly organizes training programmes, workshops, seminars, and short courses in collaboration with line departments and stakeholders. The initiatives aim to enhance awareness on water resources, improve water management stratagies and promote sustainable agricultural practices among farmers, extension personnel, and other stakeholders.

Overall, the institution serves as a knowledge hub and technology dissemination center, contributing significantly to sustainable agriculture and efficient water resource utilization.
